What is a smile makeover?

A smile makeover is an aesthetic treatment that uses two or more procedures to enhance the appearance of your teeth. 

While smile makeovers are cosmetic treatments, restoring the alignment of your teeth and jaw can also improve your tooth function and oral health. What does a smile makeover include?

A smile makeover with orthodontics may include two or more of the following treatments:

Clear aligners

Dr. Chapman offers Invisalign® and Spark™ clear aligners to correct common orthodontic issues without braces. Both treatments take about 6-18 months to straighten teeth, as long as you wear your clear aligners for 22 hours a day. 

After an initial evaluation, Dr. Chapman can determine whether you’re a better candidate for Invisalign or Spark clear aligners.

Braces

Traditional braces consist of metal brackets that adhere to the surface of your teeth and wires that gently pull your teeth into alignment. 

When you choose metal braces, you can change the color of your brackets. Clear braces contain tooth-colored materials that blend in with the shade of your teeth.

Expander

A palate expander is a metal device that Dr. Chapman places in the palate of your upper arch to expand your upper jaw. Palate expanders help correct overcrowding, sleep-disordered breathing, and can prepare your mouth for orthodontics.

Extractions

Dr. Chapman only performs tooth extractions if necessary. He may recommend an extraction to prepare for orthodontics or to treat overcrowding.

While Dr. Chapman specializes in orthodontics, he has a close relationship with other dentists, periodontists, and endodontists in the area. He can refer you to another specialist if you need dental implants, crowns and bridges, veneers, or other common smile makeover treatments.
